Scar camouflage  -  FAQ

Will it hurt

My clients describe the discomfort 2/5.

If your scarring has sensation, a numbing agent can be applied before the treatment.

Benefits of Scar Camouflaging

  • This is a cost-effective scar treatment when compared with surgical treatments.
  • Used with medical needling, I am able to adjust both the texture and color for more effective camouflage. This technique will also stimulate the body’s wound-healing response.
  • This is a completely safe treatment.
  • This is a quick treatment option, with some clients only requiring one session.
  • As with permanent tattooing, the results last for years.
  • You will require anything between 1-4 sessions to get the desired result, you will see a change in the color of the scar after each session and a decision to continue each session can be made after the healing period. Each person and case is unique.

Risks

Scar camouflage is a very low-risk procedure as long as the aftercare instructions are followed. If you don’t, there is a risk of infection which may cause color loss, but by following my aftercare plan you will be able to enjoy scar camouflage without any complications.

How many sessions do I need

You will require anything between 1-4 sessions to get the desired result, you will see a change in the color of the scar after each session and a decision to continue each session can be made after the healing period. Each person and case is unique.

What factors may affect the results

Natural skin tones
individual healing ability
Medication
Skin characteristics (dryness, oiliness, sun damage, thickness, color)
Life style
Alcohol intake
Smoking

Facial Microneedling FAQ

When is microneedling not advised?

Microneedling should not be performed when the following are present: excess acne, keloid scars, autoimmune diseases, blood coagulation disorder, bacterial skin infections, skin diseases, open wounds and/or non-epithelialized skin lesions, such as chronic wounds.

Can I have facial microneedling after Botox?

Yes.
After 30 days (depending on what is done on the face).
This treatment can be an extraordinary addition to other aesthetic procedures such as filler treatment, Botox, chemical peeling and surgical lifting. Regular treatments considerably postpone the use of aggressive surgical methods.

Is it painful?

With the use of local anaesthetic in the form of cream, pain and discomfort during treatment is minimised, so that it is virtually painless. After treatment your skin will look and feel like mild sunburn. This usually passes completely between 24 and 48 hours after the treatment.

How long does the microneedling result last?

After a course of 3 session (3 weeks apart), the treatment results last for 6 months. While we cannot stop the natural ageing process, we can significantly slow it down and visually improve the appearance of the skin, and then continue to maintain the achieved results.

Is there any age limit?

Treatment is not performed on people under the age of 18. For young people over age of 18, microneedling can be done in order to reduce sebum production and pore narrowing, as well as removing marks and acne scars.
